Funeral information and guidance
Funeral costs worry many people, however there are various ways you can keep costs down and sources of funding you can explore to get the help you need, even if the funeral has already happened.
How to refer someone
If your client is on a low income and is finding it difficult to pay for a funeral that has not yet taken place, we may be able to help. Review our guidance and if they need further assistance, advise them to contact Down to Earth directly on 020 8983 5055 or complete a referral request on their behalf.
Please note we are only able to provide 1:1 support when a funeral has not yet taken place. If a funeral has already happened please use our guide.
Arranging more affordable funerals
Our help is most effective before a funeral has taken place when we can support people take a step back and consider their options. As they share their hopes and fears for a funeral we explain options that are available and appropriate to their situation and personal beliefs. Together, we figure out what is essential and work out a budget.
This work takes place by phone and face-to-face. From there, the team liaises with funeral directors to secure the best possible price while checking eligibility for support from the state or other sources.
Making funerals meaningful
We also work closely with people to add dignity and personal touches to a service. This is a particularly pressing issue when a public health funeral (state-arranged funeral) might be the only option.
