Thanks to you we have kept our services running during another extraordinary year.
During 2021 our lives have often been unpredictable. Due to the pandemic many important aspects of life – such as being able to send children to school, or to visit a sick or elderly relative – were outside of our control for long periods.
At QSA we have striven to keep our services running throughout another turbulent year, to provide reliable support for people living on low incomes as they seek solutions to the issues affecting them. Demand for our services has been high. For example during October 2020 to September 2021 Down to Earth, our UK-wide helpline for people struggling with funeral costs, supported 747 new clients, which was 260 more than during the previous 12-month period. Since taking on a new homelessness remit through our merger with Quaker Homeless Action we have also been able to launch a new project in London: Cook Up, a shared kitchen space for people without access to a kitchen.
Our work is made possible due to many people – including our staff, trustees, volunteers and partner organisations – but it couldn’t even begin without the people who support our work financially: individual supporters, local Quaker meetings, and funding organisations. The fantastic support that QSA receives, such as through our highly successful Big Give Christmas Challenge fundraiser, allows us to plan ahead with confidence, knowing that we have the flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
We are truly thankful to our supporters, and we send festive best wishes to them all.
