QSA welcomes human rights students
Social justice issues addressed on a practical level
Today QSA was visited by Jeffrey Wylie, senior lecturer in social work at Murray State University, in Kentucky. Jeffrey brought some of his students from his human rights class to understand how issues of social justice can be addressed on a very practical level.
We spent the day discussing the issue of funeral poverty and QSA's response.
Funeral prices rose 87% in a decade and it has hit people on low incomes the hardest.
This is why QSA offers the UK's only practical support service of its kind at Down to Earth. We also campaign for change with Fair Funerals. So far, over 13% of the UK funeral industry have signed our Fair Funerals pledge.
After speaking with our colleagues, the students worked in groups to discuss how we can build on the campaign's success and reach even more people with our message. At the end of the day they gave a brilliant presentation which has given us a lot of food for thought.
