Move on Up, a supportive housing project for young carers, is coming to its scheduled closure in 2023 after seven years. A pioneering project delivered by Quaker Social Action and Commonweal Housing, Move on Up began when we listened to young carers express their need for affordable housing, and for support and guidance to transition into independent living. In 2018 the project was shortlisted for a Guardian Public Service Award.
Quaker Social Action seeks to share our learning from Move on Up. We have designed a brief survey meant for professionals in the carers and housing sectors to find out more about their experiences of supporting young adult carers with their housing needs. This is part of our reflection and engagement process, which will enrich our insights and will feed into our wider efforts to communicate the highlights and challenges of Move on Up.
