On 1 December 2020, Quaker Homeless Action (QHA) joined Quaker Social Action as part of a planned merger.
Turn a Corner is based upon QHA’s mobile library.
Turn a Corner is a mobile community library for people affected by homelessness in London.
The library van helps to address a need for human connection and positive mental stimulation for people affected by homelessness, through conversation and books. It also provides resources and donated items for people experiencing homelessness such as sleeping bags, clothing and hygiene products - as well as signposting to other local services.
We were unable to speak to many people with lived experience of homelessness during our 2020 research on unmet needs within homelessness during the pandemic, so Turn a Corner also acts as a place to listen directly to people who are homeless about what their current needs are. We intend to involve homeless people in piloting responses to these needs. This is in line with our mission, enabling people to seek solutions to the issues affecting their lives.
Turn a Corner is regularly based at locations in central London.
