Made of Money is offering two final training sessions for practitioners on: Building the Money Springboard. This training offers training and resources for professionals and foster carers who support young people in care or leaving care to learn money skills.
This training focuses on learning that happens in everyday situations, supporting staff and foster parents to offer bite-sized learning at relevant points in everyday life. Much of the learning is applicable to working with children and young people who may be vulnerable for other reasons.
The resources have been co-developed with the young people, foster carers and staff at St Christopher’s Fellowship with funding from the Money & Pensions Service.
We are running two final sessions:
1. Weds 30 April. 14.00 - ‘Talking Sensitively with Young People About Money’ We explore the link between money and trauma for care-experienced children and young people, and how we can be mindful of this for more sensitive & effective conversations.
2. Weds 7 May, 10.00 - ‘Supporting Young People to Plan Their Money for Living Independently’ How to support young people through this transition, even if neither of you have budgeting experience. This session includes ways to use the budget as a tool to nurture the young person’s personal development.
How and when will the sessions take place?
- Sessions are held online and each session runs for 2 hours including a break.
- Sessions can be booked individually or as a set.

“Train as many practitioners as you can as this is one of the best trainings I have been to, as this tackles one of the challenging behaviours we experience in our support work.”
“Just wanted to say a big thank you for the training. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s such an important subject. I think you both create such a positive and supportive space within the training – it’s wonderful energy to experience.”
“I thought the pie chart concept was very good as it is a visual aid that would be easy for a young person to understand. Also, the budgeting calculator was excellent.”
