Bags of Taste takes an innovative approach to cooking classes for people on a low budget.
We are excited to be running the project in Tower Hamlets for the first time.
Bags of Taste was founded by Alicia Weston back in 2014, providing people with the practical skills and knowledge they need to cook tasty and nutritious meals at home for under £1 a portion.
"NOW I AM COOKING AT HOME MORE THAN I EVER DID. THIS HAS REALLY GIVEN ME CONFIDENCE AND INSPIRED ME."
BAGS OF TASTE STUDENT
How does it work?
Over four weekly classes, students focus on eight different recipes from around the world. After a demonstration, they are given an opportunity to make and taste it for themselves.
Classes are all free and students can purchase a bag of ingredients for £3 at the end, giving them enough to make 4 portions at home.
Volunteer with Bags of Taste
Volunteers are central to the running of Bags of Taste. It's a fantastic opportunity to join a small team, support the sessions and ensure that everyone goes away feeling more confident in their cooking.
We're looking for friendly and encouraging individuals, who enjoy their cooking and would like to get involved in an exciting new project for Tower Hamlets.
