Our Down to Earth funeral poverty project has provided one-to-one support to over 6,600 people and works to improve practices and policies in the funeral sector.
The at-need funeral industry is almost completely unregulated and the one piece of regulation that does exist is complicated.
In September 2021 the Competition and Markets Authority’s Funerals Market Investigation Order placed legal requirements on funeral directors and crematoria operators.
Join us to learn what this means people arranging a funeral can legally expect from funeral directors:
- Price transparency
- Set packages they must offer
- Payment terms and legal disclosures
- Forbidden forms of promotion
- And what you can do if they aren’t compliant
Despite being legal requirements, not all companies are doing what they should. We are launching a campaign to improve price transparency. Everyone can easily take part. Join us to hear about it!
