Over the next year, we are inviting Friends, supporters and partners to walk London's Capital Ring and raise vital funds and awareness for our work.
Simon, our Made of Money manager, will be walking each stage.
What are you looking forward to on the walk?
People and places. I’m hoping to meet some interesting people and have some good chats. I’m looking forward to seeing some parts of London I don’t know very well. There are the big places like Eltham Palace and Richmond Park. The beauty of London is the small surprises so I’m hoping to discover some of those as well.
Tell us about your role at QSA?
I manage the Made of Money team. We aim to get people talking and thinking about money. It has such a big effect on our lives, our habits, our moods. Our courses are activity based and get people working together to learn and share practical financial skills. I think money plays such an important role and is integral to people’s personal agency. Having control and confidence in managing money gives people power over their own lives.
Why are you getting involved?
In May this year I fractured my ankle playing football. So this is part of my recuperation. I’ve been at QSA for nearly 16 months now. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here. There is a real connection with the local community. It’s been around for 150 years. I particularly like that the organisation adheres to the Quaker principles of honesty, simplicity and integrity.
What conversations are you keen to have?
Any conversations really – the environment, QSA, community development, music. Walking and talking is always enjoyable.
If you're interested in getting involved, we'd love to hear from you:
