Ann is a primary school teacher by profession. Since the 1980s, she has taught in inner London primary schools, both as a class teacher and specialist teacher, working to bring about collaborative and inclusive learning for the most needy pupils. She has also worked extensively with parents and taught adults and teenagers.
Ann has used her skills in voluntary work too, having committed to coordinating a Woodcraft Folk group, and has sat on several governance boards.
Due to education cuts, Ann was made redundant from her role as a Reading Recovery teacher, and was immediately absorbed into caring for her elderly mother and supporting her disabled brother.
Ann is now mainly retired from teaching, working only occasionally. She is married and has three adult children. As well as maintaining a house and garden, she enjoys playing tennis.
Ann joined the board of QSA in September 2026. Like QSA, she has roots in the East End of London and is keen to help find ways of reducing the negative effects of poverty.
