“What we’re facing isn’t a race, with a finite duration and end point, but a complete readjustment to how we navigate the world.”
Judith Moran, QSA Director
For some, the pandemic has increased the already heavy burden of financial insecurity, and for others, they are facing instability and uncertainty for the first time.
One area in which we’ve seen this most acutely, is our Down to Earth funeral costs helpline. The number of people supported by the helpline doubled from December to March, compared with the same period last year.
Our projects are providing practical assistance to people living on low incomes: to arrange meaningful funerals during Covid-19 restrictions without the risk of debt, helping our young adult carers to navigate the crisis and its impact on their work and home life, providing financial and mental wellbeing guidance using new digital tools, and most recently, taking on new activity to support people experiencing homelessness.
With your help, we can continue to offer support to thousands of families in east London and around the UK.
If you can, please support us by making a donation today.
"arranging a funeral and having to find monies that were not available, was so stressful, until clare phoned me.
From that day everything became calmer. She helped me at a time when I most needed it as I felt so vulnerable, stressed and did not know where to turn.
Down to Earth have really lightened my load at such a difficult time."
